Why Chinami Piano Studio?
At Chinami Piano Studio, we don’t just teach students how to play a song —
we teach them how to learn.

Real Learning, Not Surface-Level
Many piano students can play one memorized song…
but they can’t read music fluently, understand rhythm, or play anything new on their own.
This is because they’ve only learned what to play — not how to understand music.
We build the foundation first — the skills that empower students to:
-
Read and understand music deeply
-
Express themselves musically
-
Practice independently and effectively
-
Grow into confident, self-guided musicians

FAQ
Q: What is the best age for a child to start taking piano lessons?
A: When your child is interested in music, it's time to begin. I accept 4-5 years old students when they are able to count, know the alphabet, and can concentrate for 20-30 mins.
Q: Do I need to have piano at home?
A: If you are planning to take private lessons, you must have a piano for practicing in your home. If needed, I am happy to help families find affordable electronic practice keyboards.
Q: How much does a child need to practice at home?
A: Your goal is to practice every day (at least 5-6 days a week). The quality of your practice is more important than the amount of time. I will help students learn how to practice at home effectively.
Q: How often should a child take piano lessons?
A: Lessons usually occur once each week. It's very important to come to the lesson to show what you have practiced at home.
Q: What teaching method do you use?
A: I use Bastien Piano Basics. When students start using Level 1 books, I also begin to supplement their learning with classical music repertoire.
Q: I don't have any musical experience. How can I help my child to practice?
A: You can ask your child to play their music for you everyday. You can also ask them what they learned this week in their lesson. Your child will enjoy showing you their new skills, and their demonstration for you will help them practice what they have learned.
Q: Do you have studio recitals?
A: We have two formal recitals each year in April and November. These recitals give students the opportunity to perform for family and friends in a formal concert venue. In addition, professional photographs are taken of each student during the recital. These performance opportunities are a celebration of students' hard work and dedication!
